The Fire Horn is joining the McCracken County Sheriff's Office in mourning the untimely death of Deputy Chad Shaw.

06 August 2013

From the McCracken County Sheriff's Office:
Subject: McCracken County Deputy Sheriff Chad Shaw Unit# 23

Date: August 06, 2013

It is with a heavy heart that I report the untimely death of 47 year old Deputy Chad Shaw. Deputy Shaw had been at Community Christian Academy all day helping the faculty and staff prepare for their meet and greet that was scheduled to kick off the new school year. He was in uniform and was also assisting with security there. Deputy Shaw's two children, Rachael age 7, and Elizabeth age 8 both attend school there.

At around 6:15PM, he collapsed at the school. He was immediately taken to Baptist Health Paducah where he passed away a short time later. The McCracken County Coroner’s Office is investigating the cause of his death.

Deputy Shaw will always be remembered for his love for his family, his love for helping others, and the thoroughness in the way he did his job as a public servant for the citizens that he served. We would ask that everyone pray for his wife Margaret, and their two daughters.

Sheriff Jon Hayden
